Scientist. Stem Cell Researcher. Mentor.

He earned his PhD in Biochemistry from University of Calcutta, moved to USA to explore the world of biological research and completed his postdoctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He later joined Stanford University School of Medicine to pursue research on various types of progenitor and mature immune cells in the context of health and disease states of the body.

In early 1990s, he moved to the Biotech industry in USA and became involved in the translational aspect of cell and gene therapy research to elucidate mechanism of action of stem cells and genes which could be used to develop novel therapies for regenerative medicine and cancer. During his research career, he has published over one hundred scientific papers and patents. He has also trained hundreds of young scientists from different parts of the world. He has been a member of various international societies that are involved in globalising scientific & clinical research using stem cells and formulating international policies for regulating the use of stem cells in human disease conditions. He is currently the Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Vice President of Stempeutics Research at Bangalore.

On 11th of April, 2015, Dr Majumdar shared his vision and experience of conducting stem cell research and tell us how these cells can revolutionise medicine in the coming years and transform the lives of millions of people suffering from various debilitating diseases.
